I have tried the wire mesh, and also the plastic mesh. My best ones to date that have worked are ones I bought from walmart of all places, really cheap, but wide enough for my custom aluminum gutters. Have had them in place for 3 years now, no problems even though I have large oaks with lots of acorns, twigs and leaves.. Older methods just collapsed into the gutter.
